Hi guys, i recently built a new pc and now i want to upgrade it. I will be upgrading my processor, im on an amd system and switching to intel.

The motherboard must be able to take the following.

Nvidia 8800gt pci-e
2x 2gb Ddr2 800mhz
intel core 2 quad q6600, the 2.4ghz one
sony dvd rw
thats about it.

Will this msi one do the job, i was told to go with a p35 chipset but have no clue what that is.

i have a abit quadgt x38 chipset it is more future proof and will be handle the new intel cpus when they come out click here iam not saying buy this mobo although it seems very good just one with a x38 chipset if you have the budget

The X48 chipset is the current step up from the X38, although the latter will be perfectly satisfactory.

Here's one example:

there are also new 780 and 750 boards that have sli. ip35 boards are also good and are the cheaper version of x48 and x38. x48 has been delayed and you may not be able to get one yet and they seem expensive.
750 or ip35 will do you fine and will take future cp's from intel and are affordable.
