You are a one, anyway nothing wrong with the way I drive puters, besides which I can beat panels with the best.

Not the latest Aldi offering 1st RHA, but the April Aldi Medion PC, Pentium 4 2.0 ghz, has given my boy all he needs for his internet gaming :o)

The machine has proved to be faultless. I've only had Pentium PC's and they "purr" :o)

do I need AVG and Zone Alarm with XP and if so do I need to uninstall the XP versions.

Yes, you need an anti-virus program (you still don't get one with Windows).

XP comes with a one-way firewall, that is it only blocks unwanted comms from outside to your PC, not from your PC to outside. Zone Alarm, and all other 3rd-party firewalls, block in both directions. So, if something tries to 'dial-out', you are at least notified, and it is your choice whether to permit it or not.

Personally, I prefer Sygate firewall (the free one is just fine), but ZA is better than the built-in one that comes with XP.

Just type firewall into Help & Support - it will tell you how to enable / disable it.
