New LCD monitor turns itself off

I just sold a 15' LCD monitor (no dvi connection) to a friend. It works ok for me and on another pc. However when she turns on her pc the screen goes blank after a couple of seconds. Any ideas would be gratefully appreciated.

Can you give any more details about your friends PC, especially OS and any other connected hardware.

Hi. i belive she's got XP. Not sure about pc make. I cant ask her as she gone early and left me to do all the work! Bah humbug.

Hmm, not so bothered about the make, more about her actual hardware items. Also what monitor was she using prior to this? This does sound like a hardware issue of some sort.

Could even be something as simple as a loose or not properly fitted connection/cabling or internal connections.

She told me she was using a larger CRT monitor.

Sorry forgot to say the CRT monitor works fine.

If she is not there, not much we can do at this moment - unless you have access to her PC. If you have, perhaps you could do a thorough check of all fittings/connections and find out any other hardware fitted.

Another thought - Monitor Driver?
