New Laptop - Router Issue

  Gem1985 12:09 02 May 2007

I currently have bulldog broadband on my PC. My modem is a USB modem.

I have just purchased a Fujitsu Siemens laptop and a router to enable wireless internet use on my laptop. However, the router is not compatible with my current modem as the only routers available require an ethernet connected, whereas my modem has a USB connection.

Do you know any way around this?

I have been advised that the only solution is to change broadband provider (hassle and expense) or buy an all-in-one router with a modem, although I'm not sure if my internet would be compatible with this.

I'm desperate for this to be sorted so any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Is your phone line BT ?

If so you will need a ADSL modem router, not seperate router and modem.

I'm not too sure. How would I be able to check this?

Make and model of the router you have just bought?

I returned the router as it only had Ethernet connection, whereas my modem is hardwired and you cannot plug anything into it. It has a USB attachment which plugs into my computer.
