new laptop partition question

I have a new Toshiba satellite L300-20D laptop and have just created the backup/restore discs. My question is, now that I have made the discs and kept them safe, can i remove the "recovery" partition of the hard drive? It is a 160gb hard drive split into 2 partitions, both are 80gb but I would like to make them into 1 large drive rather than 2. Is this safe to do? Also how do I do it? Many thanks in advance

Not a good IDEA. You would also be better making an Acronis Image to a External Drive This would be more secure than the disc you made. Plus it would also put your Programs that are installed back. the Disc's will not put these back
