Reading the specs assuming you have the ones named correctly the acer is a much faster machine. The Toshiba uses cheaper centrino technology. It also has a built in graphics card so again not as good as the acer. Battery is the same. 40gb more hard drive in the acer. Both have the same amount of ram so the acer for me if they are similarly priced is 100% the better option. The toshiba bar the card reader supporting 1 more standard and the firewire option it is a much lesser machine. Also it doesnt have a PCMCIA expansion slot as the acer does. Plus the Acer is in my opinion nicer looking. I have had acer and toshiba machines and both makes are good so unless there is a specific reason not to take the acer for you I would go for it.

Got my acer there and they seem to be pretty good. Dont know what price you have gotten on it but it seems reasonable from them.
