New Home Wireless Setup

Within the next ten days I plan to move into a new home and establish a wireless network from the start.

Does it make sense to incorporate my old pc into the network somewhere so that it functions solely as a backup unit, whereby all laptop users could send their files there at regular intervals (and possibly automatically) to ensure less data/photos/info lost on hard disk failures or similar?

sounds like a splendid idea

Very sensible idea.
A good backup can save a lot of heartache and earbashing from the missus when your PC has crashed and you' lost all the holiday / kids

Thanks Fruit Bat,

I had expected some adverse comment in terms of how slow the backup might be through WiFi, but seems is not an issue? Comments please

As long as you do not just have that PC on it's own as a Backup. You should have another like a External Drive

Thanks for the response woodchip, but wouldn't the same criticism apply that to backup wirelessly is needlessly slow?

Wireless backup is very slow, a External Hard drive is a lot faster
