"New" hoax virus warning

  woodbasher 20:54 04 Dec 2007

Evening all. I've just received an email passed on from a well-meaning friend warning of a new virus which is supposed to trash your hard disc. Evidently the virus is supposed to be contained in an attachment named 'Merry Christmas' and springs into action when you open it. It didn't ring true with me so I checked it out and of course it is a hoax virus warning. It's a rehash of the old Olympic Torch and Virtual Card virus hoaxes, just updated for the time of the year. Have a look here for confirmation click here

I wish more people would google for information or sites like Hoax-Slayer before passing this kind of thing onto every contact in their address book...

I've just had to fire off a load of emails to mutual friends on his CC: list telling them not to panic and to simply bin the warning email. Merry Christmas, by the way!! :)

I never open any emails which I am not expecting or if I don't know who/where they are from.
