New Hard drive and RAM

  Toy 21:24 25 Feb 2008

My 40 gb Maxtor hard drive packed up and tried to reformatt and re-load XP but computer said it was corrupted and I couldn't do anything. Put my old Fujistu 6GB back in and re-loaded everything and now have only 2.5gb free space. Can anyone tell me what hard drive would be a good one to buy and could I transfer my XP over or will I have to go re-load it all again? Also, (sorry) I have 512mb RAM do you know how much I can put in a Compaq D310 EVO Pentium 4? Sorry for questions

Memory: click here

Hard drive: As large as you can afford, best to do a clean install of XP. You can partition off about 10GB for XP and programs and use the rest of the drive for storing files, videos, songs, etc.

It'll be an IDE drive you need, not a SATA drive.
