new hard drive advice

  nicbaz 21:35 04 May 2009

Hi all. my 2 year old laptop keeps telling me that i have no space left on my tiny 60GB HDD. what is the easiest way of dealing with this? How long would it take to have a new put in and does anyone know of any decent places in birmingham to get this done?
Thanks in advance for any advice.

you need to buy a 250gb drive .cost about £55

i would do a clean install of the OS if you have the disc, if not, you will need to clone the old drive onto the new one.

if you havnt done this before suggest you get an external hard drive and back up everythng first

before all that, remove the old drive and check if it is a SATA or IDE device

dont want to get the wrong one there

sorry most of what you just said is like a foreign language to me! would it be sensible for me to get a pro to do it for me?

To but a 2.5 ins USB caddy for the new Drive, fit new drive in caddy and plug it in. Then use XXCLONE to copy old drive to new one. then swap drives and use the old one as a Backup
