I am using XP Professional and I have just installed a second Hard Disk (80Gb). The BIOS entry went ok with auto detect. I followed the instructions for formatting ( Western Digital Installation Guide ) by going to Control panel > Administrative Tools > Computer Management > Disc Management , the only formatting option available was NTFS. After formatting I found that it was NTFS Dynamic. The disk works ok and I can copy files to it but I am unable to partition it using Partition Magic 7 because of the Dynamic type. Can I undo the Dynamic, except for the partitioning should I be worried if it is Dynamic, the disk is for data only.
in patition magic 7, once you have gone back to an unpartitioned disk, start by making a smaller partition say 30gb, you will then have the option of fat 32. once that is done you can increase the partition size to max possible on your 80 gb disk.
