i'm running an amd xp 2400+ with 256mb,i need a new graphics card within the region of £100 -£130,any suggestions.

PC Adviser top 10 chart says that the best cards in this price range are Sapphire Atlantis 9500 (£126), Abit Siluro GF4 Ti4200 (£120) and AOpen Aeolus GF4 Ti4200 (£125). All plus VAT. Shop around (Ebuyer and Dabs ?), you may find you can get a better price.

The reason?

Because it is 'soft mod-able' about 50% of the time.

By soft modding, I mean that you can change the way the card works with software, and not overclocking the hardware.

A successful soft-mod turns the card into a standard 9700 (not pro), making it faster, and an unsuccessful one does no harm - it just doesn't work!

btw I mean the modification does not work. The card still works perfectly!
