Hi I am building a new gaming rig using Intel i5 don't really wanna splash out £100's on i7 since I am running socket 939 at the minute so i5 will be a big step up. The parts I have picked out are as follows these parts are all I need to upgrade since I am using my hard drive I have at the minute and my 0Z 800watt PSU. Do you think this is a good set up and will any of these parts bottleneck in my new system?

3GB DDR3 1600MHZ CORSAIR DOMINATOR 3X1GB

1GB ATI POWERCOLOR HD5850 PCX HDMI

ASUS MAXIMUS 3 GENE MOTHERBOARD LGA1156

INTEL i5-750 QUAD-CORE 2.66GHZ 8MB 1156

Also I like the COOLERMASTER STORM SCOUT GAMING CASE

Just one minor point. You've selected a triple channel RAM kit when you need dual-channel for Socket 1156.

Depending on the age and type of hard drive you already have that may be the bottleneck in a new system.

How come it needs dual channel?

  Why wont it work 10:17 01 Feb 2010

Socket 1156 can only take up to dual channel RAM, it's how it is designed. It's the more expensive Socket 1366 which can take triple channel RAM as it is the high-end variant.

Ah right i will have a look for a dual channel kit thanks for the advice

1 more question would this be classed as a dual channel kit?

If you download the QVL list for your mobo you can insure that you get the right ram for your board.
QVL = Qualified Vendor List.

I'd be tempted to fit a Samsung F3 for around £65. It's one of the fastest mainstream mechanical drives available at the moment click here
