Hi all

Can anyone recommend a decent DVD Rom drive ? My current drive has died over the weekens so I need to replace it.

I'm looking at around the £20 - £25 mark (big spender I know). Can anyone recommend a decent one ?

Cheers

Dom

Recently brought a DVD combo drive from PC world.
Specs are DVD 16x CD 52x CD-R 52x CDRW 24 or 36X I think but I'm not sure.
Price was around £45 mark. I know this is more than you wished to pay but its a really good deal for such a high spec.
It is in their "brown box" range.
Installed without a problem and come with Nero and a DVD playing program as well.
Hope this is of use.
Regards
Simon

You can buy the Pioneer 116 for around your price (mine has performed faultlessly for two years now) from most online retailers such as Scan (click here); I paid £54 for an OEM model...:-(

As you don't need any drivers other than the standard Windows generic one, buying in OEM form will save you money; if you want DVD software such as PowerDVD (now version 5) you can usually acquire it much cheaper when buying hardware at the same time.

I can, believe it or not, do even better than that - but personally I wouldn't deal with this company...
