new ata cables

On my pc i would like to buy new eide cables but i have worrys about compatabilities the description is : High Quality Round Idecable Ata133 90cm In Blue i was told something about 40 is not enough i dont know what '40' reperesents but it was something to do with the cable 40 is not enough youneed 80? n e 1 have n e ideas? im CoNNfUzzLed???? help!!

all ide cables will run to their max on 40 ie: 40 wires the 80 wires version uses a sheiding to stop any interference but 40 is sufficient for cd-rom or cdrw dvd-rom all opical drives are well within the data transfer range of a 40 wire ata 33 cable.
the 80 wire cables should be used for data transfer of ata 66 ata 100&133 which are ide hard drives.
