networking xp/vista

my computer is connected to my belkin fd7633-uk4 adsl2 modem router, via an ethernet cable. this computer runs on vista ultimate and connects to the internet with no problem. my daughters computer run on xp and is wirelessly connected to the network using a belkin nic.

the problem is at the moment she cannot connect to the internet just the network. this all started because i wanted to secure the network as i am concerned that there is someone using my bandwidth as the dhcp in the router is showing up an unknown user. so when i tried putting on the simple wep security it wouldn't let her on to the network at all even though she had the key.
what i would like to acheive is a secured network along with her internet connection.

can anyone help in this?

i know this is in the networking forum but it has had no reaction thus the second thread here where there maybe more people

Does your daughter's PC have a firewall that is blocking her from the internet? That's what it sounds like to me.

When you enable the security on the router, does the router show in laptops * show available networks *.

Have you altered the routers setting to show it's SSID?
