Networking in XP

  RAFA 20:35 13 Jun 2004

I have recently loaded XP Professional onto my desktop and lap top. Purchased a NIC and x-over cable to connect the two - laptop is already network enabled.

However, run the network wizard on both machines. Everything looks good. Cannot see anything in my network places and keep getting message that I need to log on as administrator as I may not have permissions to view. Network does not work. Any ideas please

you need to set up access permissions for drives, folders files etc on both machines to be able to see anything.

If you have any firewalls enabled make sure they are set to allow other networks.
