Networking and File sharing

  plumbob1 15:49 05 Feb 2007

I have 2 computers both running Windows xp. I have tried to set up a home network but all I can share is the internet connection. Both computers are conected via a wired router. I have run the network and file share wizards many times but the computers will not find each other.

Make sure that each of your IP addresses is in the trusted zone of each firewall. To get your IP addresses go to each machine in turn and open a command prompt, type ipconfig & press return this will give you something like & 192.168.yyy respectivly. Enter each others address into the others firewall trusted zone.
Hope this helps.
