My desktop and my laptop both have ethernet connections what do I need to connect the two and can I copy DVD disks from one to another if I have one reader on laptop and recorder on PC

You can network them for file and/or printer sharing by connecting the two ethernet adapters directly with a *CROSSOVER* network cable.

I wouldn't recommend trying to run a DVD in one PC and at the same time try to copy it over a network connection with a DVD-RW drive on the other. In fact, I wouldn't even try copying "on the fly" with a PC that has two DVD drives installed. It is much safer to copy the DVD to hard drive and then burn it from there.
