I am running windows xp on my desktop along with a broadband modem - I want to try connect the laptop which is a few years old - its running on windows 95 not sure how big a difference it makes (I have no idea what I am doing really !!)
Can the two machines be connected and networked so I can transfer programmes over to the laptop and when there connected would the laptop be able to connect to the broadband modem.
First you need to make sure you have an ethernet card in both computers. You can network them by using a cross over ethernet cable, but if you want to share your broadband connection, you would be best to buy a router. Assuming your modem is also ethernet, you just connect all three devices through the router using ordinary (not cross over) cables.
