I am trying to set up my homenetwork between two computers, one xp and the other win2000.
I am using a crossover lan cable between the two. No matter what I do they cannot see each other. all settings etc seem to be correct. Any suggestions please. The cable is OK as I have checked it on another system

Have you gone into the setup home network on the xp machine followed the instructions which allows you to make a floppy that configures the other machine.

I also had a similar problem. I had disabled the firewalls and antivirus programs (AVG and Zonealarm) and couldn't understand why it was not working. Disabling them is not always enough, I had to un-install both to get mine working (mine is wireless though). Might be worth a try though!
