Network Problem

  molar 10:43 10 Mar 2006

I have set up a network between 2 desktops both running Xp - SP2 I have Internet connection on both. I have Norton on one and McAffee on the other with Firewalls to allow access to the network. Windows Firewall is turned off on both.

When I enter View my workgroup computers and click on Other Computers I get the message -
"\\user.jiri767634 is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the main administrator of this server to find out if you have access permission.

The network path was not found"

I am at a loss as to what to do next

This is usually a firewall problem.
Temporarily disable the firewall on 1 PC and see if it will connect, if not disable the other to find which one is not allowing acess either in or out.

I tried disabling each firewall in turn but it had no effect
