Running Windows 98SE. Recently installed Pipex ADSL Modem etc. Now have a Network Neighbourhood Icon on my desktop. I am the only one on this system. Just me, stand alone. Why should this icon have appeared on my desktop and how do I get rid of it please?

Use TweakUI click here to hide it.

Start TweakUI, Desktop tab, ...

Thanks VoG but I'm not a fan of TweakUI. Any idea where this icon has come from?

There is another way click here but I think TweakUI is easier.

It has appeared because of the installation of your new broadband connection.

Happy to help. I assume that despite your dislikes you chose the TweakUI option?

this bugged me as well, I got rid by going to start, settings, control panel, selected network, & under the 'configuration tab'I highlighted network neighbourhood then clicked on 'remove' then ok, I then rightclicked on the icon on desktop & clicked delete.

hope this helps
