evening all....this is a long running saga, to try and link the two pc's together with a wireless network,, this was all ok when the two were win98, now the laptop is XP, after many weeks i have got the icon on the task bar to show green, the xp pc, and still no good..what i would like to know is, on the win98 pc, i have the above icon on the screen, but do not have it on the XP pc, should i? one more thing the XP is ntfs, could that be the problem? and finally where can i find the settings on either which tells me the "subnet mask" and the like.

thanks

1. xp doesnt have network neighbourhood.
go into windows explorer and you will see
my network places
2. NTFS has nothing to do with networks
3. In my network places, select display network
connections. Right click the LAN icon and
select properties. Highlight tcp/ip and click
properties.
