I have noticed about 2 days ago the Network icon in taskbar has a red circle with a white cross in it .but i am connected to the internet ok.I hover my mouse over it and states 'No Internet Connection Available'.The Diagnotics Discovery Service is set to Automatic in Services section when i ran Task Manager unless something else has turned of.It' s just bugging me...

My OS is Windows 8.1 upgraded from Windows 8

I am not connected by wireless..using standard Ethernet cable from PC to my Virgin Media new style hub...you need a wireless router to go wireless..don't you which i have not

But the Virgin media hub is a wireless router. I suspect that it is telling you that you do not have a wireless connection.
