Network Card

I have a network card which worked perfectly when running ME, but since upgrading to XP home the computer freezes when XP is loading, everything is fine when I disable the card. Could this be a BIOS upgrade (which I don't really want to do) or is it something simpler? Any suggestions?

do you know the make and model no. of the nic?

what motherboard do you have?

may help.

Yhe NIC is part of a PC World networking kit and is an Asound 10/100M Fast Ethernet connector and the motherboard is an Asus A7V-E.
