Netgear Wireless G query re speed settings

I have just taken a 6 mbps BB package from my BB service provider. They have given me a Wireless G Router, and USB 2 Adapter.

My query is this;- The info at the back of the box says the speed of Wireless G is 1x, please, can anyone tell me if this means that I am going to be indirectly capped by using this equipment and will not be able to get the full benefit of the 6 mbps.

Also, does anyone know how is this speed setting in this router going to affect my ability to use Voip at the same time as being on the internet ?

Thank you

The standard for wireless G as i understand it is 54 Mbps.

So you should be OK. It's what I use.

All the best.

It just means it is the wireless G standard, or can handle upto 54Mbps, as per Fingees.

The router will cope with your upto 6mb connection.

just found, netgear do 3 standards of WiFi, maybe more. 1X, 10X and 15X with the range max net. click here

As said, yours will be the normal 54Mbps model, 1x and should be fine for your needs.
