Netgear wifi problems a soloution

Just thought I'd share a problem which I have just solved.
I've just purchased a new laptop (HP Pavilion dv2000. Until then I had a good wifi network going, with my old laptop using an USB wifi adapter.
The new laptop has an inbuilt wifi. Try as I may, I just could not find my network.I have set up my wifi network quite a few times and know the settings inside out. But just could not get it on the new one.
I used both the netgear and HP helplines, and allthough they suggested many things which I tried nothing helped.
I then had a closer look at the router settings. There are 3 settings 54 Mbps, and 2 x 108Mbps settings.
One of the 108 settings is for netgear products only (which is what I was using) and the other 108 setting for all netgear and other compatable devises. I switched to this, and it now works with a very good connection.
I just thought I'd share this.I am surprised that the Netgear helpline didn't suggest this.
