Netgear WGR614 with BT Voyager 220v

I'm trying to set up a WGR614 with a Voyager 220 as the latter only has one ethernet port. I bought the Netgear router on ebay "refurbished" so there is no CD with it. From what I can gather the cd is not needed as The Netgear site seems to have adequate support.

The problem is, when I try to configure the new router (via 192.168.1.1) I can't connect. To my knowledge both routers have this ip address. I can only connect to the new router when it not connected to the Voyager but the flip-side is I still can't configure any settings it as it will not let me past the "you do not seem to be connected to the internet" (or words to that effect) screen.

Any help would be fantastic but please, not too technical.

Enter the router settings and manually give it a different IP address such as 192.168.1.2 so there is no clash or click here to find out how to disable DHCP to et it working .
