I am having trouble connecting a netgear router (via ethernet cable) to my cable modem.
I have followed the installation wizard, however when I power up the router, the internet connection light stays amber (I have tried using the reset option as described from Netgear documentation, without success).
I have tried this router on another connection and get the same problem, can anyone offer any advice?
PS the machines I tried to connect are running vista and XP Home.
...follow the advice on dms05s link. If you still have problems then:
Switch the whole system off and wait 1 minute. re-boot the modem. Wait for all modem lights to come on solid. Re-stert the router. Wait until it shows it's working. Re-boot the pc. All should be ok now.
This procedure is always required on cable systems in order to get the router recognised.
