Netgear modem/router with virgin?

  gtg 19:06 14 Nov 2008

I have just bought a NETGEAR DG834G wireless modem router.
The problem is i have virgin media for broad band,tv and phone but the new modem does not have a connection on the back for the coaxial cable.
So i have plugged it into the phone line(virgin)and it wont work.
Is this modem not compatible with cable or does anyone know if i can get it working.
Thanks in advance

The Netgear DG834G is a *COMBINED* Router & ADSL Modem for use only with ADSL broadband provided via the phone line. It is, unfortunately, *NOT SUITABLE* for Virgin's "Cable" broadband service for which you require what is called a "Cable/DSL Router", which doesn't incorporate a modem - it connects to Virgin's Cable Modem or Set-top box by ethernet cable.

Something like the Netgear WGR614 is suitable.
