netgear dg834g unable to log on to setup

  POP 21:20 22 Jun 2007

just got a netgear dg834g v3 from ebay, told it was brand new and was to set up on AOL. My ISP is Pipex. The router came with a CD to install AOL but i would rather not. All the correct green lights are on, my gigabyte board "Smart Lan" check tells me that the cable to the router is alright. I have CMD ping & and had back "timed out". I have opened a browser to the above and got back "unable to find page" Any help would be appreciated. Pop

Try resetting the router to factory settings and try again.

Have been through the netgear site troubleshooting guide, a hard reset for 10 seconds was tried. The only thing not quite right is if I do "Run> CMD> ipconfig/all" then one of the setting says that DCHP not on. But if i go through "Tools Internet options" then DCHP is on.

sorry about the delay, while waiting for any response my power pack blew up. I have just fitted a new one and logged on. will get back as soon as I have followed the the instruction.

The information i am getting After CMD> ipconfig/all Seems to point to my D-Link DSL-200 modem that I am useing to access this forum. It says "PPP adapter PIPEX Broadband" "Connection- specific DNS suffix..." "description...wan(ppp/slip) interface" "physical address 00-53-45-00-00-00" "DHCP Enabled NO" "IP address" "Subnet Mask" "Default Gateway" "DNS Servers" and below those figures"
Should I have my D-Link disconnected before trying to get these readings.Sorry to a pain Pop

Ok so now I am confused. How is everything set up at the moment? and what are you wanting to do with the netgear modem/router?
