Dear all,

My wireless router keeps cutting me off from itself.

Under internet protocol i have set my ISP as one up from the router (ie the router is 192.168.0.1 and i have set mine as 192.168.0.2) and I have set the DNS server as the router (192.168.0.1).

But it will cut the link every now and again. I was using Bit tornado to download Palm software (its legal software and downloads faster than on their own website for some reason) and it will cut me off.
then i have to restart before it will link again.

any ideas. (none of my house mates have this problem).

cheers

Is this in the router settings? I have the DG834G and have checked how I have mine set up and can't find this.

Do you have the latest firmware?

yes this is the router settings (in as much as its IP address is 192.168.0.1)
i have set mine as 192.168.0.2 so that it doesnt coincide with the router IP address.

Is your PC connected as part of a network with the other occupants of your house? If so this link click here may help solve your problem.

I have my PC's set to automatically obtain IP address and DNS. My main PC is 192.168.0.2, upstairs is ...3 and the laptop ....4 I have no problems with IP addresses coinciding, that should really happen. Don't know if this could be why you are being cut off but worth checking out?

sorry for the late reply. internet been playing up!
still keeps cutting me off.
The Kestrel:
Other pcs connect to the router but only to get access to the internet. we have not set up a network. i will have a look through that link as soon as i can.

Dipso:
If i set the IP address to automatic, it wont connect at all! weird.
