Nero speeds

Having just installed a brand new LG DVD burner, I wondered how fast I could burn CD's.
The log states that "Speed measurement finished 146.8x. I had selected to burn at 24x.
Does the log suggest I can burn at a higher rate?

I would doubt it, the faster the burning the more likely the errors.

I always burn DVDs at 4x

No CD or DVD rewriter could operate at such a speed to burn CDs - the fastest available CD burner offered a potential 54x.

It's clearly an error.

Have you tried Nero's CD and DVD Test Drive feature?

I tried the Nero Test but the Start button was greyed out so I could not use it.

Did you have a CD in the drive? The Start button is greyed out when there isn't a disc to check?

I found that you have to start with the calibration. But what do the graphs mean? Is there anyone to whom I could email the screen gabs that would tell me what they mean?
