Need a very good reference book

I intend to do a bit of work on my own as im being made redundant from my IT technician job next. I intend to buy a PC reference book incase i encounter any major problems.
Any idea on which is the best to buy. I was told about PC Bible.Is this any good?
Im based in the UK.
