Need software cd for mini pci wifi?

  woodface7 14:51 07 Mar 2007

I've been looking to buy a mini pci card to use my laptop wirelessly - I already have the router set up and the laptop has antennas built in.

Many cards on ebay come without their original cd however. Are these essential or would windows have the necessary drivers?

A search on the makers' websites does not always show them downloadable there.

If xp,windows drivers should be fine. However if windows will need the driver disc, windows 98se can be a little fussy at times and may need the driver.
Ive just fitted a wireless card into an old Dell Latitude laptop, had so many problems with the drivers on the software, eventually it settled down to work with the windows 98se driver.

Hope this helps.

My neighbour had a USB wireless dongle but no drivers so I connected it to my router via Lan wire and downloaded the drivers then dissconected the wire and run it wireless on my network before giving it back.
