Hi, I had one of my first hardware experiences last night when I added a HD to be my second HD in a Dell Vostro 200, it was extremely easy.

Now I would like to try to replace the faulty DVD writer. I put Dell Vostro 200 DVD writer in to ebay and it did not bring up a result. So I have two questions: 1. Will I have to buy direct from Dell/does it have to be a Dell specific burner/writer? 2. Will it be fairly simple to fit?

Thank you in advance.

A DVD writer is now essentially a sata device

Any DVD writer should fit and its just a matter of connecting the leads as you did the hard drive.

In the manual (you d/loaded in last Thread) - Removing and Installing Parts - Drives - Optical Drive (pages 143 to 149)

Great! Thanks for that. So even one like this would be ok: click here know that you get what you pay for but what would be an acceptable price to pay for a DVD writer from, say, ebuyer?

Apologies, it was way past my bedtime! :)

How about this one: click here question, though, regarding price I should pay, please?

Hi buel,

All DVD Drive are pretty much the same, Don't send over £15 for one. This DVD RW would work just fine.
