Hi all,
I need to install a new Graphics card for my Rig?

-AMD Phenom ii x6 1055t
-gigabyte motherboard, 790xta-ud4 (am3 ddr3)
-corsair 4gb RAM

I will be buying a psu 650 - 850 watt (corsair)

just need a selective graphics card for gaming!

my budget is £80.00 - £150.00 (may spend more if its needed)

can anyone give advice on a good one for this Rig?

Thanks PC Advisors :)

As your board supports crosfire a route you might want to go down later, I would recommend the HD4890
Obviously the more you spend the better the card, the 5850 is a fair card which is about the same as my twin 5770's
You can try comparing cards here, click on the GPU benchmark.

I have a 5850 with my i7 but it was and Is £200+

For that price I would also go for the top 4xxx from ATI

I would suggest the Radeon 5830 for £150 click here It's more powerful than the 4890 and is a generation newer.

Alternatively the Nvidia 460 768mb is roughly equal to the 5830 and can be had for just under £150 if you look around. Either would be a solid choice for the money however.

If you go here, click here which I should have posted in my first reply, you will see that the 4890 is a faster card than the 5830.
There are also many reviews that also point this out.
The 4890 is also a better card than a single 5770, fortunately I have two 5770's which is about the equivalent to a 5850.

I'm with gengiscant on this

The top 4 series only really gets beaten by the 5850 Nd higher

Only go for a lower 5xxx series if u need dx 10 which is a non issue anyway.. or multi monitor eyefinity which a lower card can't handle anyway

On second thoughts I agree with the above. Closer inspection reveals the 5830 is a bit rubbish, and is actually less powerful than the 4890 despite being moreso on paper.

So bang for buck the 4890 is best (seen it for under £120), but if you want to spent closer to your £150 limit I still recommend the 768mb Nvidia 460- it's a bit more powerful, a bit newer, and a little more power efficient.
