Need to install new XP Home OS

  caris 23:05 03 Dec 2007

Please refresh my tired mind and advise me on what I should be saving to disc etc before I do the installation.

Also tips on the installation of new OS.

All hints and tips gratefully received.

Always had trouble with the AdventPC I bought..just over a year ago. No restore available and wouldn't let me reinstall..So I've shelled out for a new Full XP Home OS.

Thank you for your help. I'm asking for quite a lot I know..... x

First off you need to back up any important data, that might be Documents, Programs, Music Vids ect to a suitable backup device such as external hard disk.

Once thats done go into your Bios should be the "DEL" Key or something like that and set your CD as first boot device F8 to save and exit when prompted to boot from CD press Any Key e.g Spacebar then follow this guide here:

Your `My Documents` folder, Outlook Express emails etc (click here)
, license keys for registered software (click here), go to manufacturer's website and download drivers for your system & save to CD, or save the drivers you already have installed (click here)

That covers the basics, more information on what software you use regularly is required otherwise
