What is the difference between SATA SATA II and SATA300 ?
I have a SATA at the moment but want another 160 gb drive to replace my ide slave, will I be able to use any SATA drive?

my mother board is a TriGem 865 GE

Someone here said yesterday or the day before that SATA II is not backwards compatible I think...

Get another SATA disk - when you say you want to replace it, do you mean add to it or get a completely new one?

this board does not support sata2 (otherwise known as sata300), so stick to sata150.

This may suit you. click here

Actually, scratch what I said, I'm not sure where I came across it - wait till someone else comes along.

I found Overclock click here and Dabs click here both very competatively priced for HDDs.

SATA 11 hard disks are compatable with SATA 1 motherboards. You just need to apply the factory jumpers.

" This hard disk drive has also a SATA-150/SATA-300 jumper, which should be installed in case you find some incompatibility between your SATA-150 motherboard and your hard disk drive. We installed this hard disk drive on a SATA-150 motherboard and we found no compatibility problems at all and we hadn’t to install this jumper."
