Need Boot Disk at Startup

  B33J 21:56 01 Nov 2005

A couple of weeks ago I wrote a post regarding my newly built PC not finding any of my IDE devices. I did what was suggested and that has worked thanks. However now the PC tries to boot from the CD-ROM drive and asks for a boot disk. As far as I know I don't have one and wouldn't know what it is asking for anyway. Any suggestions?

Many thanks.

DO you know how to access the BIOS? Has it booted normally until now?

If the CDrom is set as first boot dvice in the BIOS you will see a message on the POST screen.
searching for CD rom boot not found.

The search for a Bootable CD slows the boot sequence down only by a secondor so. It is best to leave this set it will do no harm and if you have a problem with windows then booting with the XP CD in the drive will get you to the recovery consul or repair XP.
