Need advice-equipment needed for Inet connection

Hi,
We are looking at purchasing a new laptop in the near future. We are currently with AOL broadband and connect via a wired connection with a BT Voyager 105 modem. (Windows XP)

What sort of equipment do we need once we buy the new laptop to maintain this connection, particularly as it will come with Windows 7. I understand that the BT modem isn't compatible with Vista or Windows 7 so that leaves me in a bit of a quandary with what we need to do.

We're not bothered about WiFi connections as we're used to it all being hard wired, it works and would seem the simplest way of carrying on (for us that aren't technically minded!)

Can anyone suggest what we'd need in order to maintain our connection to AOL please?

Thanks very much, your time to respond is appreciated.
Cheers

PS - haven't made a decision on a laptop yet as we don't want to jump into it without knowing what else we need to keep the internet connection going. Thanks

It may be best to get a new router to connect to AOL. You will need to know your account settings/password, etc to put on the router.

You'll need a new modem or router which you can connect with an Ethernet cable - this will give you some idea how it will work
