Need to access the HDD on a locked windows system

  lothlann 11:38 05 Nov 2010

To cut a long story short, I installed a copy of Windows XP a while back but didn't bother to activate it as I wouldn't be using it for more than a day or so.

Unfortunately during this time I by mistake, moved, rather than copied, some pictures to the HDD (i assume I moved them to My Pictures).

I just tried to get them off but, as 30 days has passed, I must activate to do this, which I can't do as I dont have a code.

How can I get to these files? I am drawing a complete blank.

Any help will be much appreciated as the files aren't mine and I dont want my stupid mistake to mean they lose their pictures.

Easiest way is to use a cable click here to connect HDD to another PC.

or download and boot from a live linux CD click here and copy the files from the hard drive to a memory stick
