NEC i-Select 5610 Battery?

  paul654 19:17 23 Jul 2006

Recently bought an 'NEC i-Select5610 Notebook'.
The battery supplied is a BP-8050(s) 11.1v 4400mAH....which when fully charged only lasts a piffling 1.5 hours!!!
I've been trying to find a replacement (more powerful) battery online but cant find a single site that deals with NEC i-SElect compatible batts. Anyone else got one of these notebooks and bought a spare batt?...any help welcome..

It's not the battery. You most likely have a desktop CPU in the Laptop. these do not run efficient. As they are full bore all the time

Oh Joy........not much use for my daughter to take to Uni...oh well

Check what CPU is in the Laptop. But if it was a cheapo that's what you get. She needs to remove the battery and run it on mains so the battery will be some good when she needs it

The CPU is an 'Intel Pentium-M Centrino Processor 1.7 GHz '.....hope this means something to you've guessed I'm not too PC Hardware litterate....I just push the keys and hope it works.

Then it should run longer than that. Mine is a Celeron 2.20gz and that will run at least 1.5 houres. But the battery is a click here

The M stands for Mobile I think (as in Pentium 'M' processor).

Someone has mentioned to keep the battery OUT whilst using the laptop plugged in. I have the exact same laptop so can you please clarify - should I keep the battery out whilst using at home? This is my first forage into the world of laptops so I am on a learning curve!

My battery is lasting similar length of time, be aware too that if using processor heavy apps (i.e messing with graphics or complex multiworkbook excel files) then it will go in 1-1.5 hours, if you are just surfing seems to last up to about 2 hours.
