Can you just delete the dial up connection from control panel, internet options?

Sorry control panel, network connections.

I want to keep the option for the dial up in case its needed.

I'm sure you can temporarily disable it but I'm unsure how to do it as I've only got one connection on my computer at the moment.
I'm sure someone will tell you how to do it.

small 'bump'

Leaving the dialup connection option shouldn't create any problem as long as your main one is the Default.

I've just had a thought. Does this come up all the time and what does it say. What I am wondering is if you have a program on your PC which is looking for an update and is trying to connect via the dial up connection.
A lot of programs have the facility to connect to look for updated versions of thereselves and I'm wondering if its one of them thats doing it.
Other idea I have is do you have anti spyware on your PC as well as anti virus and have you run them recently in case its a dialler program.
