MYSTERIOUS EXPLORER MESSAGES

For the last couple of days, every 30 minutes, at XX07 and XX37 minutes past each hour, I get a window headed Reminder 14 February 2006 17:07:07 - this of course changes as the hours go by. There is then a message saying 'The Page you are looking for is unavailable'. There is then advice on going to IE Internet Options and playing around with LAN settings. Well, I've done what they say (despite the fact there is no network here - just me!) and STIll these bl**dy messages keep coming. Any idea how I can stop this nonsense? I can clear them each time using task manager but I would prefer them to go away.

A nice idea but I got a message about Java Kernels that I didn't understand. Any more ideas?

Can you be more specific, or try this

Well, this presupposes that it's a virus problem and I don't think it is. It's a problem the LAN and Internet Explorer. I already run AVG frequently.

You may be right, however I felt it better to test before making any further decisions, AVG is not necessarily 100% at finding problems. However you may be right, perhaps someone else may give guidance on LAN settings

Try going into Control Panel > Internet Options > Connections > tick always dial my default connection.

Sorry about the multiple posts. Couldn't seem to post properly.

I tried that - it made no difference. These strange messages keep coming up every 30 minutes though I have discoverd if I don't clear one no more arrive. But why are they coming? Has anyone else had this nonsense?
