My outward e-mails don’t leave my Out Box.

Progress Window briefly shows “Connected” followed immediately with “Disconnected”, but the phone connection still remains on, (receiving updates for example).
Options for “Hang up when finished” are not ticked.
Norton Scanning of outgoing e-mails is OFF
Disabling Norton Firewall and Parental Control makes no difference.
Everything was OK a few days ago and nothing was changed at this end that would have caused this problem. However Automatic Live updates to XP and Norton did run since then. I ran System Scan for virus check – none found.
Incoming e-mails are received OK. Dial-up connection OK, Internet connection OK
I use XP (SP2 not installed yet), Outlook Express 6, Norton Internet Security 2004,
Pay as you go Modem dial-up to 0845 number.

Any ideas please?

How may dial up connections? OE may be set to connect via a different one.

Ensure that the relevant tickbox is cleared to enable it to connect via any connection.

Otherwise, be sure you have the correct smtp server specified.
