My Mozilla Brower has stopped working! help!!

  gazmix 20:09 14 Aug 2007

I run xp & use Firefox. Its not the latest one i don't think.

Earlier today it was ok!
Now i turned on pc, brought up my dial up box with mailwasher & it went online.

Mailwasher found 3 messages, i deleted 2 & clicked on a link in another mail to open my default browser.
It said 'Mailwasher couldn't point the web browser at the link (2)'

When i go to my desktop & double click on the shortcut to firefox, it won't start up!
IE does ok, but thats not my default browser & i don't want it to be.

What could be wrong, it was ok 2 hours ago!
Could it be that it isn't latest version?

Help needed & appreciated

Uninstall FF - Control Panel>Add/Remove then re-download and install latest version of Firefox.

I've always installed over the present version.

Any ideas as to how this could have just happened within 2 hours of turning pc off, going out, coming back, turning pc on & this...?

Could it be an expiry date, like end of use allowed for older version?

Just in case, how do i make mailwasher recognise IE as default browser, so i can check if i can open links in mails via MW using IE.

From Start>Set Program Access and Defaults>Custom

Hmm, sorry, no idea how it could have happened, and I have never used Mailwasher, so I cannot advise you on that.

Stuartli - I would normally do the same, but if FF is being troublesome, then I always advise un-install before re-installing.

Ok, cheers, i'll try all that & report back!

  Stuartli 20:47 14 Aug 2007

Fortunately I've never had any problems with FF..:-)

having probs removing firefox

when i go to 'add/remove' programmes, the same thing happens as when i try & launch the browser!

It all freezes & it won't remove when i click remove!
It's the only programme i have that says just remove as opposed to 'change/remove'
That seems strange!
wonder if its corrupted or something!!

  Technotiger 20:50 14 Aug 2007

Neither have I - but it is what I advise for those who are having problems.

  Technotiger 20:51 14 Aug 2007

Hmm, in that case, better try Stuartli's way - download and install over the top of the old FF.
