i use my computer for online banking so will it be safe enough

  Woolwell 22:54 18 Mar 2010

As safe as any free software but you may want to add a firewall. Some banks eg Barclays give free security software with on-line banking..

If you want to pay consider Kaspersky or Norton 2010.
McAfee has been getting some relatively poor ratings recently.

I agree with Woolwell but on W7 I use: PC Tools firewall, Avira anti virus, Malawarebytes anti spyware. May switch to MS Security Essentials for anti virus soon.Read other threads on this.Don't forget - only one anti virus to run.

. . . Windows Firewall? With Windows Defender and MS Security Essentials - they are all free.

Nobody has mentioned the good old favourite AVG Free click here

I think that MS Security Essentials has better malware protection that AVG. Yesterday I replaced AVG free with MS Security Essential on a system and it found a problem that AVG had not.
