My laptop died on me

Hi! my laptop died on me the other day whist I was doing my work and I haven't been able to get it working since! I have tried turning it on but every time I did it started to work then turned of again! After this it went dead completely and nothing has happened except that a little orange light kept flashing where the battery light should be! I left it over night and now nothing happens at all not even the orange light flashes.

Also on the battery pack that is still plugged into the mains the green light is lit up but there doesn't seem to be any power getting to my laptop!

Could anyone help me and tell me what I need to do or what has happened?

Many thanks Jennifer xx

It sounds like the Battery Charger circuit on the motherboard has died. Effectively the battery isn`t charging and the external power isn`t getting to the motherboard. This can be fixed by a specialist repair but get a quote first.

What make and model of laptop and how old is it?

If your data is invaluable then you could get a laptop disk caddy

To access the data till you get things sorted. Maplins also sell them.

Which model though. I`ve had a couple and I seem to remember something about clearing the battery module.

Have you done what is said above? Remove the Battery then try starting just on mains power. If the Charger as gone you can buy one online

I have tried that, but nothing happends. The chargers is working but there is no power getting to the laptop! Does this suggest that i will need to buy a new charger?
